• 2016 Allude Viognier

It is an early highlight of the year to offer a striking white wine from Sonoma’s Knights Valley – the 2016 Allude Viognier. Ever since our first introductions to the stunning wines from Condrieu, Viognier’s birthplace in the Northern Rhone, we have been fascinated by the grape and always sought out the rare sites that are ideal for the cultivation of this extremely fickle varietal. With the Allude winemaker Camille Benitah has brought a level of refinement and complexity to the wine that is rarely captured while letting the grape’s exotic flavors and rich oily mouthfeel lead the way. Bright yellow gold in color, the Allude’s nose is a stunning array of honeysuckle and jasmine accented by hints of mineral and wet slate. The palate delivers exotic flavors of apricot and melon with a rich oily mouthfeel kissed by refreshing hints of lemon zest and orange peel. This beautiful freshness endures through the long savory finish with spiced flavors of ginger and quince paste. An expressive wine in its youth, the Allude is best served with poached shrimp with a mango salsa or grilled lemongrass chicken.

Rich inky purple in color. The nose offers luscious boysenberry, chocolate and spice followed by hints of olive and sage as the wine opens up over the course of hours. The body is a pure expression of Mount Veeder terroir with spiced blackberry and plum flavors guided by a completely balanced and elegant structure. The wine finishes bold with beautifully integrated tannin and subtle hints of earth backed by flavors of plum jam and melted licorice. Beautiful today with aeration, the Sharp should evolve beautifully over the next 12-15 years.

  • 2016 Armada Cabernet Sauvignon

The Spring Mountain AVA is home to some of Napa’s finest Cabernet vineyards, yielding a bold, sophisticated expression of the grape all its own. Perched high above the town of Saint Helena, the cool climate, rugged terrain, and elevation all play a part in making the region and its wines so special. For the first time in many vintages we are proud to offer an example of this fine terroir with our 2016 Armada. 100% mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon, the Armada is a classic example of the greatness achieved from Spring Mountain. Deep magenta in color, the nose reveals wild blackberries accented by hints of cocoa, damp earth, and spices. The palate has a core of concentrated fruit with a mixture of black cherry, cassis, and plum jam flavors. The structure is a classic expression of gritty mountain fruit with a bold assertive tannin structure and a rich, savory mouthfeel. Long and polished on the finish, the Armada is best served today after a couple hours of aeration but should also evolve beautifully over the next 12-15 years.

  • 2016 Morata Pinot Noir

The Sonoma Coast has become one of the world’s most important terroirs for the cultivation of Pinot Noir.  Its combination of cool, foggy climate combined with its diverse soil composition delivers a level of quality on par with the best of Oregon’s Willamette Valley and even Burgundy.  We have always been fond of the Sonoma Coast terroir and we are thrilled to showcase its world class quality with our 2016 Morata Pinot Noir.  Meticulously sourced from the Petaluma Gap region, the Morata delivers all that we love about this terroir and prized varietal.

Soft magenta in color, the nose expresses bright notes of pomegranate and spice that develop into richer raspberry and damp soil notes with air.  The palate delivers the essence of Sonoma Coast terroir as dark concentrated cherry flavors play off a soft velvety tannin and vibrant mineral-laced acidity.  The wine’s power and concentration endure through the finish and promise a long and memorable evolution.

  • 2015 Damietta Pinot Noir

The Carneros region represents the finest example of terroir-driven Pinot Noir in Napa Valley. Its cool foggy climate and ancient marine soils are ideal for a richly fruited, complex expression of the grape framed by refreshing acidity and vibrant minerality. 2015 will be remembered for its unusual warmth, early harvest, and naturally low yields but it did provide us with the opportunity to produce one of our favorite wines, the Damietta. Only 100 cases produced, winemaker Camille Benitah has crafted a classic Pinot Noir with the sultry flavors, mouthfeel, and nuance that makes Carneros terroir so special. Classic faint crimson in color, the nose of raspberry and pomegranate is accented by hints of cedar, wild fennel, and mossy minerally soil. Rich and savory on the palate, the full silky flavors of bing cherry and rhubarb lead to a long graceful finish with fresh acidity and nuances of potpourri and sandalwood. Best enjoyed today after an hour of being open, the Damietta should develop nicely over the next 8-10 years and be delicious every step of the way.

  • 2016 Black Widow Lodi Zinfandel

It is a rare privilege to offer one of our very favorite domestic wines and a true California classic – the Black Widow Lodi Zinfandel. First produced in 2002 and followed only by 2007 and 2009, the 2016 vintage provided us with the chance to make this wine again. An old vine selection of 100% Zin farmed on the eastern edge of the Lodi AVA, the Black Widow is a complex, hearty expression of Zinfandel that delivers the finest attributes of the grape. Deep ruby in color, the nose exudes briary notes of raspberry and loganberry accented by grilled herbs, browned meats and a bold dash of spices. The soft velvety mouthfeel offers the ideal backdrop to enjoy the wine’s sweet juicy flavors of ripe strawberry with hints of white pepper and vanilla cream. These decadent flavors continue through the long, vibrant finish and make for a classic pairing such as BBQ’d pork ribs.

  • 2015 Bradford Central Coast Chardonnay

California’s Central Coast is playing a leading role in the state’s production of world class Chardonnay today. Its diverse terroir offers the full range of the grape’s finest qualities and we are thrilled to offer an example of it with our 2015 Bradford. 2015 was another early drought stricken vintage for this region and most of California, but what it lacked in yields was made up for with fine quality. By bringing together fruit from the warm Paso Robles climate together with the cooler, later harvesting Edna Valley, the Bradford delivers an exotic expression of Chardonnay with balance and elegance.

Pale gold in color, the nose is a perfume of honeyed apple, sweet corn, and summertime petrichor. The palate shows both the rich and racy profiles of Chardonnay, first with soft melon and peach flavors that lead to more vibrant tones of citrus zest with a dash of minerality. The wine’s refreshing acidity lingers deep into the finish with flavors of orange peel and caramel, completing a beautiful wine drinking experience. This expressive Chardonnay pairs nicely with seafood dishes, a grilled prawn and mango salad would be ideal.

  • 2014 Montesquieu Diamond Mountain District Meritage

63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc Since its inaugural vintage from the 2006 harvest, our Montesquieu Meritage has been produced from the finest Napa Valley vineyards we work with. We have always pursued unique parcels from naturally low yielding mountain vineyards with the goal of making a bold, balanced wine with complexity, elegance, and the capacity to age. 2014’s warm, dry growing conditions were ideal for the production of this wine and for the first time ever it has been made entirely from Diamond Mountain District fruit. Deep eggplant in color, the potent nose reveals aromas of roasted blackberry and cassis together with hints of dried herbs, espresso grounds, and mushroom. The body showcases massive concentration and the most decadent flavors of blueberry and melted licorice with nuances of dark chocolate shavings, mint and rosemary. The wine’s towering structure and dense tannin is a classic example of Diamond Mountain terroir, a finish that promises a long and memorable evolution for this flagship wine for many, many years to come.
