The Carneros AVA, with its cool breezes from the San Pablo Bay and mineral laden poor soils, is home to one of the world’s finest terroirs for the Chardonnay grape. With the lone exception of France’s Chablis region, there may be no other place where the grape thrives with such vibrant flavor intensity, mineral complexity, and refreshing acidity. This revered style of Chardonnay is alive and well with the 2015 Keto, a welcome introduction to yet another fine vintage for the Napa Valley and a classic example of the appellation’s terroir.
Pale greenish gold in color, the nose exudes creamy pear, briny minerality, and an undertone of fresh citrus zest. Rich mandarin and lemon flavors persist on the palate leading to a firm bracing acidity through the finish with flavors of green apple and lime. Only the Carneros terroir can contribute such a unique mix of rich full citric fruit flavors while maintaining laser like acidity and a pure pulsing finish.
