Australia’s McLaren Vale is one of the world’s premiere wine regions and we are thrilled to offer an example of its pedigree with the 2014 Pindari Shiraz. The McLaren Vale is cool, sunny and home to a diverse range of soils that bring complexity and refinement to its powerful wines, particularly its Shiraz. Aged 16 months in 95% new French Oak, the Pindari (meaning ‘higher ground’ in ancient aboriginal language) is sourced from old low yielding parcels of Shiraz planted in the higher elevation eastern foothills. This higher elevation coupled with stronger sun exposure brings an added layer of depth and nuance to this special bottle of wine.

Deep glossy purple in color, a perfumed nose of wild briar fruits laced with eucalyptus oil and cracked pepper leads to a bold, intense palate of boysenberry, cassis, and dark chocolate. The wine is concentrated and rich yet still balanced and refined. Lovely today, the Pindari should only improve if properly cellared over the next 10-12 years.
