The Willamette Valley has reached a level of quality where many people mention it in the same breath as Burgundy as the ultimate reference point for Pinot Noir. Full flavored and savory but structured with remarkable finesse, the region’s top wines certainly bring out the best in the varietal. It has been a short fifty years since the first plantings of this finicky grape, but the incredible wines speak for themselves.

The warm, dry harvest of the 2014 vintage has delivered a benchmark year for the Willamette Valley and we are exciting to showcase its excellence with our Colburn. Faded crimson in color, the nose showcases all there is to love about great Pinot Noir with its perfume of gingerbread, rose petal, mushroom and forest floor. The palate carries decadent flavors of raspberry and red cherry skins from the warm, dry harvest together with nuances of mineral-tinged damp soil. The harmony between the wine’s acidity and velvety tannin delivers a stunning finish that lasts for minutes, making the Colburn an ideal food pairing wine. Lovely today, the wine should evolve beautifully over the next 7-10 years if properly cellared.
