Our 2013 Atticus is a refreshing New World take on Syrah with an homage to the grape’s classic vinification methods rooted in France’s Northern Rhone region of Cote Rotie. Sourced from grapes grown in both the Edna and Santa Ynez Valley, 4% of the final wine is Viognier which was co-fermented with the Syrah after harvest. This tiny percentage has a major impact on the wine, bringing added depth to the color, a softer more seductive mouthfeel to offset the Syrah’s rustic nature, and a floral aromatic that lifts the wine’s nose.

Deep purple in color, the nose offers sweet raspberry pie with accents of cinnamon, jasmine and vanilla. The palate carries the rich juicy flavors of the bountiful 2013 harvest with currants and peppered strawberry backed by candied fig. The rich body has a velvety mouthfeel and leads to a smooth finish with a balanced touch of oak and notes of earth and white pepper.
