The 2012 Westerly Chardonnay is a superb chardonnay from the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Rita Hills. The two vineyards that comprise this white wine gem are divided by California’s Route 246. Since one of the vineyards lies a mere 50 yards from the Santa Rita Hills AVA, you will find some of those classic characteristics in this bottle – bright acidity and a touch of minerality from the coastal terroir.

This wine was fermented in both concrete lees and 50% new French oak barrels, which were left to have a secondary malolactic fermentation, a key in developing a depth of character and complexity. The wines were then blended and this ensures all inconsistencies are removed and that each bottle of the final finished product will be as smooth and delicious as the next. In that bottle you will discover bright citrus and even pear, with a pleasing finish that lingers on your palate.
