2010 Montesquieu Derenoncourt MeritageNapa Valley, California

We are proud to share with you the fifth vintage of our flagship wine – the 2010 Montesquieu Derenoncourt Meritage. This wine represents our commitment to working with the finest vineyards Napa Valley has to offer together with one of the world’s top winemaking talents, Stephane Derenoncourt.

Winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt is a man that needs no introduction. Since the 1990’s he has cemented his reputation by making some of Bordeaux’s greatest wines from the Right Bank such as La Mondotte and Pavie-Macquin. He offers his expertise far beyond France; his 100+ clients span the globe’s most important wine regions. When the time was right to produce a Cult wine of our own, Stephane was the only logical choice for winemaker.

For our 2010 Meritage, Stephane’s final selection is a blend of 48% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec. The Merlot and Malbec are sourced from our two favorite sites in the Atlas Peak AVA, the high elevation Stagecoach and Pahlmeyer vineyards, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc are from Howell Mountain’s cherished Ink Grade Vineyard. Deep glossy crimson in color, the nose soars from the glass with wild blueberry, licorice, and sweet spices. The palate is packed with dense flavors of blackberry, plum jam and a big kick of spice on the palate, all leading to a powerful yet refined tannin structure that allows you to enjoy nuances of chocolate covered cherries, pepper, and barbecued meats. Stunning today, like all of Stephane’s top wines, our Meritage promises a long and rewarding evolution in your cellar.
