Not only is this impeccable and delicious—Pierre is one of the hottest winemakers in the Rhône—but we cellared it to perfection before releasing. The color is a heavy yellow gold—with lots of depth from its time in the bottle so far. Then the nose is super inviting, with classic musky citronella and floral notes plus a hint of licorice spice from the Roussane. The Marsanne takes over on the palate with a decadent and oily mouthfeel—you’ll get flavors of honeyed pear and apple, all with a gentle touch of crème fraiche and vanilla. I love the finish! All the fruit and richness glides through to show a little oak and a wonderful mineral streak, it’s absolutely spot on! Everyone has gone head over heels for the 2007 vintage in the Rhône. And now, this is in such a sweet spot—showing the richness and power of the vintage, but also showing the complexity of age. Have this with Lobster Ravioli in a Saffron Cream Sauce and you’ll be in heaven!
