Gavioli - Montepulciano
When it comes to expressing the very best of Tuscan winemaking, there are only a handful of producers throughout the region that equal the talent and diversity of the Gavioli family. The wines of Montepulciano have been long revered as some of Italy's greatest and we are proud to have worked with the Gavioli family's incredible offerings for nearly ten vintages, ultimately bringing our clients the very best of the region.
The family's breathtaking 44-acre property is an integral part of their community located just outside the picturesque town of Chianciano. It was patriarch Sergio Gavioli who had the ultimate vision for this incredible agriturismo which now produces traditional wines such as Chianti Superiore, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and Vin Santo. They have furthered their ambitions to include modern Super-Tuscan blends that focus on French grape varietals and they are also well known for a limited production of olive oil. This is truly a family inspired by its breathtaking surroundings.
The family's winemaking philosophy is a study in preserving tradition while embracing the best of the modern wine world. Their famous Poggio Oliveto vineyard is responsible for cultivating fabulous Prugnolo Gentile and Canaiolo Nero. These old vines are grown at 900 above sea level in a unique volcanic tufa soil that enhances their wine's aromatic development. The property allows for gradual ripening because of its unique microclimate, giving the family the opportunity to produce world-class Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wines with the structure and body to age effortlessly for the next 15-20 years.
The Gaviolis have developed their creative flair for winemaking mainly with its Scopeto vineyard. Here parcels of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon grow alongside native Sangiovese clones for the production of the Sergavio wines - a fitting tribute to patriarch Sergio Gavioli. These incredbile wines are intense in style and flavor but are always made to show their best at the dinner table alongside the region's best fare.

2004 Tadini Chianti Superiore - All the great attributes of Chianti are beautifully woven into this wine. Blueberry and chocolate aromas give way to a body full cherry, pine, and tar. An elegant touch of plum and dried herbs in the finish gives this wine tremendous complexity.
2001 Tadini Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva - The true essence of serious Montepulciano wine is on full display here. Dark berry flavors are complimented by complexities of smoke, cedar, and candied violets. A powerful wine with a fantastic life ahead of it.
