2006 Pierre Jean Villa Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône

Powerful and sleek all at the same time, this 2006 Pierre Jean Villa is a top example of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, simply amazing!  The nose is rich with bing cherries, kirsch and violets with a hint of clove.  The palate is loaded with fresh-picked raspberry, dried lavender and Provencale herbs around a thick, rich core of fruit.  Secondary flavors come out highlighting cinnamon, spicecake and garrigue plus just the right amount of oak.  The finish shows a long, integrated expression of the fruit, silky tannins and awesome structure.  A classic cellar must-have!
